The University of Utah Women’s Division 1 (W1) hockey program has announced their schedule for 2025-2026 regular season.
The Skatin’ Utes will enter their sixth season (2019, 2021-2025) playing at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) W1 level. The Utes will continue their membership in the Women’s Western Collegiate Hockey League (WWCHL).
After a 14-12 record last season, the Skatin’ Utes will be looking for their first WWCHL Conference Championship and their first trip to the ACHA National Tournament this season.
Head Coach Rodney Stedt has recruited well this season, and will have 11 rookies joining the team.
“This is easily our toughest schedule yet as a program and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Both the number of games and strength of schedule is going to be great. We will be tested a lot throughout the year and that will help us tremendously in our goal of making nationals,” Coach Stedt mentioned.
Their schedule is packed with 16 games in the Fall and 14 in the spring semester, for a total of 30 regular season games. This includes 16 home games and 14 away games, the first time in team history their schedule favors the home game column.
The season will open at home against newly minted ACHA W1 member University of New Mexico on September 26-27, 2025 at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex.
The following weekend the Utes will kick off their away schedule against the reigning ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Champions Liberty University on October 3rd and 4th in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Upon their return, the team will get the weekend to rest on October 10-11, 2025 for their first bye weekend of the season.
Next, Utah will host WWCHL rival Colorado State University for their first conference match up of the season on October 17th and 18th.
To close out October, the Skatin’ Utes will travel to University of Wyoming for a pair of conference games in Laramie on October 24-25, 2025.
Utah will have their second bye of the semester on October 31st and November 1st.
Utah returns home the following weekend, November 7th and 8th, to battle the 2025 WWCHL Champion and rival Grand Canyon University for two pivotal conference games on home ice.
During the last weekend before the Thanksgiving break, Utah will host University of Arizona for the first time in team history. Arizona will be entering their 2nd season and will likely be a very good series.
Utah returns from the Thanksgiving break on Friday, December 5th, and Saturday, December 6th as they host Montana State University. They will face off against the Bobcats for their first meeting of the season.
Upon returning from the winter break, the Utes will host University of Denver on January 9th and 10th to start the New Year and will be going full speed until the end of February.
The team heads North for another WWCHL rivalry series against on Montana State on January 16th and 17th.
Utah follows up their northern trek with four game series in the desert from January 21st-24th. The Utes will play Arizona State on January 21st, Arizona on the 22nd, and Grand Canyon on January 23rd and 24th. Only the two games versus GCU will be conference games.
Continuing in WWCHL conference play, the Utes will host heated rival University of Colorado for two extremely valuable conference games at home on January 30th and 31st and then again in Boulder the following weekend on February 6th and 7th. The four game series will likely have major conference ramifications for the final WWCHL games of the season.
Utah then hosts ACHA Women’s Division 1 newcomer University of Washington on February 13th and 14th. Senior night will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14 at 7:30 pm MDT.
The WWCHL Championships travels to Boulder, Colorado this season and is scheduled for February 20-22, 2025. Utah hosted this tournament in 2020 and 2024.
The Utes are seeking their first-ever WWCHL Championship along with the auto bid to the 2026 ACHA National Tournament in St Louis, Missouri in March of 2026.
