The University of Utah M2 hockey program has announced its 2024-2025 regular season schedule. The Skatin’ Utes will enter their fourth season at the Division 2 level of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. Additionally, the Utes have also moved to the Mountain West Collegiate Hockey League, fresh off the team’s third PAC-8 Conference Championship in February of 2024.
Utah’s kicks off the season with a two game road weekend against in-state rivals Weber State and Utah State University on September 20th and 21st, 2024. Followed by a quick trip to Odgen, Utah for the second tilt against Weber State on September 27th. The Utes are searching for their first wins against Weber State since returning to the M2 level in 2021.
Next up will be another in-state rival Utah Valley University on October 2, 2024 and University of Providence on October 5th, 2024.
The Skatin’ Utes will then hit the road to face off against the Western Region powerhouse Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana on October 11th and 12th, 2024, followed by a weekend off.
Straight off the bye weekend the Utes travel to Denver, Colorado and face off against Denver University on October 25th and 26th, 2024.
Utah M2 returns home the following weekend to host the University of Wyoming Cowboys.
The following weekend the team will be in Provo and Ogden, Utah for two games against in-state rivals Utah Valley and Weber State on November 7th and 8th, 2024.
The final matchup against Weber State will occur on November 7th and the series against the Wildcats could be a predictor of the MWCHL Championships in the spring.
Continuing their travels north, Utah will face Boise State University in Idaho for a two-game series on November 14th and 15th.
The annual Beehive Showcase returns to Salt Lake City from November 21-24th. The final schedule for the Showcase has yet to be finalized.
When the team returns from the Thanksgiving break they have a home and home against Utah State on December 6th and 7th, with the Utes playing at home on December 7th, 2024.
After the holidays, Utah m2 will have two in-state road games against Utah Valley on January 9th and Utah State on January 11th, followed by another game versus Utah Valley on January 15th, 2025.
Next up the team travels to Butte, Montana to play the newly formed Montana Tech University.
The final home series of the regular season will be against Idaho State and Boise State University on on January 24th and 25th. M2 Senior Night will be celebrated at 7:30 pm MDT on January 25th.
The following weekend, the Utes will compete in the Annual Wasatch Cup tournament, where the best college team in Utah will be crowned. Utah has won the Wasatch Cup four times since its began in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2020.
Utah will head to Missoula, Montana February 7-9, 2025 to compete in their first MWCHL Championship weekend. The team competed in the PAC-8 Hockey Conference from 2011-2024 before exiting in the spring of 2024.
From there, the Utes hope to qualify for the ACHA Regional Tournament on February 21-23rd, 2025.
