The University of Utah Men’s Division 1 (M1) hockey program has announced their schedule for 2025-2026 regular season.
The Skatin’ Utes will enter their ninth season at the ACHA M1 level. This will also be their fifth season as a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL). Utah is seeking its third consecutive appearance in the American Collegiate Hockey Association M1 National Tournament.
Last season Utah finished the season with a fantastic 21-7-1 record. Earning a team history highest rank 8th in the final ACHA M1 rankings. The Utes finished with a ranking of 14th the season season.
Head Coach Morgan Feenie commented on the schedule, “We’re incredibly excited for the 2025–26 season. This is the most competitive schedule in our program’s history, and it’s a testament to how far we’ve come. After finishing second in the WCHL to the eventual national champions, our goal is clear—we’re aiming for both the WCHL title and a national championship. We have a group of talented, driven players, and we’re ready to take that next step.”
Coach Feenie’s secured 12 new student athletes, whom will wear the coveted red helmet this season.
Utah will kick of the season with Missouri State at home on September 26th and 27th, which will also double for the start of the WCHL run for the Utes. Utah is 3-0 against Missouri State, with 2 games played at the M1 level, and the other at the M2 level.
After Home Opening weekend, the Utes venture to Lynchburg, Virginia, to play the storied ACHA program Liberty University. The Liberty Flames are a perennial powerhouse and this will be the first time the two teams battle on the ice come October 3rd and 4th.
From there, the Skatin’ Utes are on the road for three more weekends. First up will be the defending ACHA National Champions, University of Nevada Las Vegas. This two teams have been battling for conference supremacy for years, and this year is to be no different. Both games are at City National Arena on October 10th and 11th.
The following weekend, Utah will travel to the desert and play University of Arizona at the Tucson Event Center. This rivalry is alive and well and the two former PAC-12 schools always show true grit on the ice on October 17th and 18th.
Utah’s month of travel will conclude down in sunny San Diego as the play the newest member of the Western Collegiate Hockey League, San Diego State on October 24th and 25th. Utah is undefeated against the Aztecs in two seasons, but a solid recruiting class by SDSU may challenge the streak.
After 10 games and traveling to both coasts of the United States, Utah M1 will get a much needed bye weekend on October 31st and November 1st.
The following weekend, November 7th and 8th, Utah will host Grand Canyon University at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. As with all members of the WCHL, the strongest M1 conference on average in the ACHA, the Lopes always come to play and this year should prove to be no different.
On November 14th and 15th, Utah M1 will host the Arizona Wildcats for the final meeting of the two teams for the season. Make no mistake, these games will prove to be excellent hockey games not to be missed.
In another first for the Utes, they will travel to the ACHA Men’s Division 1 Chicago Showcase from November 21-23, 2025. This event is a major ACHA event with 18 Men’s Division 1 teams traveling to the Windy City. Utah will play the University of Mary, former M1 champion Minot State, and the University of Jamestown.
Of note, Minot was ranked #1 last season, Jamestown was #5, and Mary was #14, which puts this weekend as a red letter weekend for the Utes.
After Chicago Showcase, the Utes will have the remaining two weeks of the semester off to focus on school and will return to play in January.
The new year will begin with a road stretch with two weekends on the road. The Utes kick of the semester in Phoenix against Grand Canyon University with games occuring the weekend of January 23rd and 24th.
After another bye weekend Utah travels to Phoenix one last time for two games against WCHL rival Arizona State University on February 6th and 7th. Both games are schedule for ASU’s new rink Mullet Arena.
Utah skates into the home stretch of the season with a 4-weekend home-stand. This begins when San Diego State comes to town on February 13th and 14th. Next the defending National Champions comes to the Salt Lake City Sports Complex on February 20th and 21st.
Senior Night will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2025 at 7:30 pm MT.
The final release of the ACHA M1 rankings will be on Sunday, February 22. These rankings will determine if Utah has qualified for the National Tournament in St. Louis. If the Utes earn their second trip to M1 Nationals, they will be in Missouri on Wednesday, March 12th.
