2026 MWCHL Championship

University of Utah Hockey announced they will host the 2026 Mountain West Collegiate Hockey League (MWCHL) Championship Tournament at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex from February 5-7, 2026. Utah M2 is the defending MWCHL Champion and is positioned to compete in their second MWCHL Conference Tournament since departing the PAC-8 Hockey conference in 2024. Utah Hockey has a storied history with hosting ACHA events including the 2013 ACHA Regional Tournament, 2014 PAC-8 Championships, 2015 Wasatch Cup, 2015 ACHA Division 2 National Tournament, 2020 Wasatch Cup, 2020 Women’s Western Collegiate Hockey League Championships, 2023 ACHA Men’s Division 2 West Regional Tournament, 2024 WWCHL Championship Tournament, 2025 Wasatch Cup Tournament, and the 2026 ACHA Men’s Division 2 Regional Tournament. The 2026 MWCHL Conference Tournament format will be maintained this season with the top 8 teams from the conference attending. Seeding will be determined by the mid-January Men’s Division 2 regular season rankings. Conference Membership includes: Boise State University Montana State University Montana Tech University University of Montana University of Providence University of Utah Utah State University Utah Valley University Weber State University The MWCHL Championship seedings are based on the American Collegiate Hockey Association Men’s Division 2 rankings from January 18, 2026. The highest ranked MWCHL team will be the number seed and so on. Only the top eight MWCHL members will participate in the tournament.

The format for the double elimination tournament will be: Thursday, February 5, 2026, MWCHL Day 1 10:30 AM: Game #01, #7 Boise State vs. #2 Montana State (WATCH) 1:30 PM: Game #02, #6 Montana vs #3 Utah State (WATCH) 4:30 PM: Game #03, #8 Montana Tech vs. #1 Weber State (WATCH) 7:30 PM: Game #04, #5 Utah vs. #4 Providence (WATCH) Friday, February 6, 2026, MWCHL Day 2 10:30 AM: Game #05, #8 Montana Tech vs. #7 Boise State (WATCH) 1:30 PM: Game #06, #6 Montana vs. #4 Providence (WATCH) 4:30 PM: Game #07, #3 Utah State vs. #2 Montana State (WATCH) 7:30 PM: Game #08, #5 Utah vs. #1 Weber State (WATCH) Saturday, February 7, 2026, MWCHL Day 3 4:30 PM: Game #09, Third Place Game, #3 Utah State vs #1 Weber State (WATCH) 7:30 PM: Game #10, Championship Game, #5 Utah vs #2 Montana State (WATCH) All games will be broadcasted on Utah Hockey Broadcast Network.
