PREVIEW: Utah vs Weber St

Matt Komma October 2, 2015
October 2, 2015 Salt Lake City, Utah After earning a win and a draw against in-state rivals last weekend, the University of Utah Skatin’ Utes take on another in-state rival as the Weber State Wildcats come to Salt Lake City to take on the Utes. The Wildcats are 1-4 so far this season and are coming off a late 5-4 loss to Arizona State Maroon and 1-0 and 8-1 losses to last year’s top-ranked West team and National Semifinalist Arizona State Elite last weekend in Arizona. The lone win comes against BYU, where the Wildcats beat the Cougars 7-1 in Provo two weeks ago. Most of Weber State’s team returns from last year, which includes star forwards Dax Hobbs and Phil Jennrich and star defenseman Jake Webber, all of which were near the top of Weber State’s scoring list. The biggest change in the Wildcat roster though is between the pipes, as Lucas Thatcher is joined by four other goaltenders that are on the current roster. As for the Utes, the team will look to build on their early success after posting a 3-0-1 record in their first four games against UNLV, BYU, and Utah State. Chase McDonald, Josh Dangel, and Michael Ahern lead the way and are all tied in scoring for the Utes with seven points each in four games for the Utes this season. Friday’s game at the Utah Ice Sheet at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex will take place at 7:00pm. Tickets are still available and you’ll be able to watch the game on Utah Hockey Game Day Live.
